Granulated Urea High Nitrogen Fertiliser (46%N)

Granulated Urea High Nitrogen Fertiliser (46%N)

Full commercial grade granulated urea. Far superior to the smaller prilled urea offered elsewhere. Granular urea has  better flow and spread characteristics and is the strongest form on nitrogen available on the market

  • Product Information

Nitrogen is the main driver for plant growth and most plants respond very well to regular applications of nitrogen.  Urea is a slow release form of nitrogen that initially has limited availability to plants. It must first go through a process called hydrolysis, where urease enzymes convert it to plant available ammonium. During this process, some of the ammonium can be lost as ammonia through volatilisation.

However, ammonium is rapidly converted into nitrate during a process called nitrification. Nitrosomonas bacteria in the soil change the ammonium to nitrite, which then gets converted into nitrate by nitrobacter.

Nitrate is negatively charged so no longer binds to the soil. Water can then transport it down the soil profile out of reach of the roots. Typically, nitrate leaching is worse in the winter when the soils are at water holding capacity. On light soils, leaching can occur in the spring following a heavy rainfall event.

Try to avoid application to waterlogged gardens or during the wetter winter months. However it is beneficial to apply immedaitely before a light shower of rain as this helps to get the product into the soil. If the weather is dry for a prolonged period of time you may need to water to get the best results.

Typical application rates are 15-30 grams per square metre.

1kg will therefore cover  33-66 metres squared.

Suitable for hand spreading and fertiliser spreaders.

  • Safety Information

Store in cool dry conditions. Keep away from children, pets and food. Wash hands well after use. Clean up all spillages as soon as possible. Avoid spreading near garden ponds and water courses and dispose of the empty container responsibly.

Our Urea is of the highest grade and contains very little dust, but to be safe please protect your eyes and mouth with appropriate PPE whilst handling and spreading.
